Gijs Pyckevet is an Project architect for large scale projects in Italy as well as abroad.
Since his training period Gijs worked with several Dutch architects including Rem Koolhaas. He graduated with a residential project on large scale, a border between architecture and urbanism.
After the start of his career in the Netherlands, he moved to Italy for a collaboration with Massimiliano Fuksas. In the international context of the Fuksas Studio, he participated as project architect on several international projects and competitions. For the projects of the shopping centers “Square Center” (Eindhoven, Netherlands) and “Zeil Project” (Frankfurt, Germany) he coordinated the architectural design with the various engineering disciplines.
Since 2004 he has worked with ABDR in Rome, where he continued to grow in his role as project coordinator. He manages and participates in all stages of planning, including the supervision of the project site. At ABDR he has been involved in major projects including the Tiburtina railway station and the stations of subway B1, both in Rome. Also in Rome he was responsible for the design of residential and service project “Emperor Justinian.”
Lately the emphasis of his work shifts more and more to other countries. Since 2010 he coordinates international projects from Kazakhstan, where ABDR is involved among other things in the project for the new “Astana Opera“, to Morocco, for the project for the new station for high-speed trains in Casablanca.
